Ma Yinchu symposium of the 130th birth anniversary

June 24, 2012 is the 130th Birth Anniversary of Mr. Ma Yinchu. To commemorate and learn Mr. Ma Yinchu’s great spirit, noble character and excellent ideas, the National Population and Family Planning Commission, China Population Association and Peking University held the forum for the 130th Birth Anniversary of Mr. Ma Yinchu on the morning of June 21 in the Zhejiang Hall of the Great Hall in Beijing. Zhou Tienong - Vice Chairman of the standing committee of NPC, Luo Fuhe - Vice Chairman of the CPPCC and Peng Peiyun - the Honorary President of China Population Association attended the forum. Prof. Zheng Xiaoying–the director of Population Research Institute of Peking University made important speech at the conference. Nearly 100 representatives from government and universities attended the forum.

    Under the encouragement of the spirit of Ma Yinchu, the IPR of Peking university spare no effort to promote the interdisciplinary development in population science for many years. Prof. Zheng Xiaoying point out that the current China's population development is in a key phase, have been across from big populous country to big human resources country, and now is ongoing from big human resource country to strong human capital country. Population birth quality and population health investment should become a major national strategy and action. At the same time, she proposed to take healthy life expectancy as the main indicator for social development. And to promote the population health, the prevention strategies for birth defects intervention need national special research and pilot promotion.
