   The First Joint Ph.D. Candidate of PKU-IPR and USC-SSW Came back

     Jufen Liu, a third year Ph.D. candidate of Institute of Population Research, Peking University, has finished her study at USA and come back to school. She had been awarded a scholarship under the State Scholarship Fund of China Scholarship Council (CSC) to pursue her study in University of Southern California (USC) from Oct 2007 to Oct 2008. During this period, she learned some statistics method such as the multiple regression model and structure equation model at School of Social Work (SSW), USC and Department of Preventive Medicine, Keck School of Medicine. With the supervision of Prof Xiaoying Zheng and other professors, she cooperated with Prof. Iris Chi at USC and finished three English manuscripts in which one has been accepted by Journal of Aging and Health and the other two are in review. One of her paper has been accepted by the 61th Gerontological Society of America annul conference and will be presented in Washington DC in this coming November. Besides, she had been invited to RAND Cooperation to participate the conference of "Mini-Medical school for social scientists" and workshop on “Demography, epidemiology and economics of Aging” in July. After that, she also attended the 9th APRU Doctoral Students Conference in Far Eastern National University, Vladivostok, Russia. With the one year experience, the joint Ph.D. candidate program has enhanced the cooperation between PKU and USC, which will benefit to both schools for future development.
