Professor, Institute of Population Research / Institute of Ageing Studies, Peking University


      He is a professor of Institute of Population Research, Peking University, Deputy Director of Institute of Population Research, executive director of  Institute of Aging Studies, vice director and secretary general of China Association of Teaching & Research on Aging. His main research areas are Social Gerontology, Population Health, Social Survey and Demographic Analysis. Since 1999, he has participated in more than 50 research programs and has presided twenty research programs, including the programs of State Social Science Fund, Humanities and Social Sciences research of Ministry of Education, etc. Besides, he has published more than 60 articles, two monographs, translated one academic work as the first translator and participated in another 8 academic works. He has won at least ten academic awards, including Technology Progress Award by Ministry of Education and other awards at provincial and ministerial level. He has also participated in the consultation, drafting and rectification of many significant documents, such as “No. 8 Document” issued by the CPC Central Committee and the State Department, Research Report on National Population Development Strategy and so on. As the representative of PKU, he has also taken part in drafting Research Report of 2nd national sample survey on disabled people, as well as the documents in order to strengthen the causes of the handicapped, which is issued by the CPC Central Committee and the State Department.
