Institute of Elderly Population Research, Peking University


In order to meet the ageing of the population trends and to exert the advantage of comprehensive development of Peking University, then in 2003, established the Institute of elderly population research, Peking University, which affiliated to the Institute of Population Research. This event marks what the teaching and research of Peking University in the field of elderly population has entered into a systematic development stage. In the same year, Institute of Population Research, Peking University became the Office unit of the Chinese elderly population center Research and Teaching Professional Committee. In November 2006, the Institute of population Research/Peking University Institute of elderly population research, the University of Southern California School of social work, and Davis School of Gerontology and Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Center on Aging and Health jointly signed China-America Ageing and Health International Cooperation Agreement, officially launched a China-America international cooperation project in the field of ageing and health. This is another great movement to promote the development of the elderly scientific research in Peking University. In 2006, the institute with the Korean Institute of Health and Social Affairs signed a China-South Korea memorandum of understanding on the health of ageing.
